Anytime of the year is a great time to visit Queenstown
Spring (1st September to 30th November)
The warm sunshine and delicate cherry blossoms bursting open perfuming the air make everyone want to make the most of crystal clear days and longer evenings. The temperature ranges from 8° - 22° C (48°-75°F).
The ski season usually runs through to the end of September, enjoy warm days on the slopes or make the most of the spring weather and play golf on one of the International Golf Courses, the fishing season opens on the 1st of October so there is something for everyone.
Summer (1st December to 28th February)
With temperatures between 20° and 30° C (high 80° – 90° F) summertime is a glorious time to spend exploring the region. The early dawn (5am) and the late dusk (10pm) provides the Southern Lakes with long day light hours to enjoy an early morning horse ride or relax with a glass of wine as the sun sets late into the evening. The walking tracks are enviable at this time year, from a stroll around the Chinese Village in Arrowtown or for the more adventurous book on one of the walking tracks around the region.
Autumn (1st March to 30th May)
Autumn is the most colourful season of the year, the scenery is just wonderful from the deep reds to the rich golds of the autumn leaves reflected in the clear water of the lakes. A perfect picture post card.
With temperatures between 0° - 25° C (32° - 77° F) you need to dress in layers. Relax with a coffee in one of the numerous cafes along the lake front or indulge in a glass of Pinot Noir at one of the local wineries.
Winter (1st June to 31st August)
Blue skies, snow on the mountains and amazing views – winter is in full swing. The temperatures are seldom higher than 7° C (44° F), often below 0° C (32° F).
The views at this time are incredible but don’t forget your warm clothes – it’s frosty and cold. Spend your days exploring the six international ski fields or some of the more relaxed activities perfect for a winter’s day from wine tasting to a day spa. Add to the mix a fun filled après ski culture and you have the perfect recipe for a winter programme in the alps.
